Nairobi to Nanyuki
Depart Nairobi in shared transport for the Mount Kenya region, arriving in Nanyuki in the late afternoon. The evening is free to rest and acclimatise.

Day 2 · Approx. 3–4 hours walking · 9 km · 860 m ascent
Nanyuki to Old Moses Camp
After breakfast, transfer to the Sirimon Gate (2,440 m). The track climbs through forest into heathland to Old Moses Camp (3,300 m).

Day 3 · Approx. 6–7 hours walking · 14 km · 900 m ascent
Old Moses Camp to Shipton's Camp
Cross the Ontulili River and the moorland of Liki North before climbing into the Mackinder Valley, with the main peaks ahead, to Shipton's Camp (4,200 m).

Day 4 · Long day · approx. 785 m ascent then descent
Summit Point Lenana and descend to Old Moses
Leave at about 3:00 am to reach Point Lenana around sunrise. Return to Shipton's for breakfast and continue down to Old Moses Camp for the night.

Day 5 · Approx. 2 hours walking, then road transfer
Old Moses to Nanyuki and Nairobi
Walk down for about two hours to the park gate and transfer to Nanyuki to connect with shared transport back to Nairobi.

Is this a private or shared climb?
Your climb is supported by a dedicated guide, porters and cook. Joining other climbers on the same dates can reduce costs — ask when you enquire.

How fit do I need to be?
You should be comfortable walking for six to eight hours a day on rough ground for several days in a row. Altitude affects people regardless of fitness, so ask us about adding acclimatisation days.
