Destinations

Four countries. One region we know well.

Destination guides for Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda: when to go, how to get there, how long to stay and the safaris that include each park.

Kenya

Kenya is where we live and work. From Nairobi, most of the country's great wildlife areas are a day's drive away: the Maasai Mara to the west, Amboseli and Tsavo to the south, the Rift Valley lakes on the way, and Samburu and Laikipia to the north.

Tanzania

Northern Tanzania holds some of Africa's most famous wildlife areas within a few hours of Arusha: the Serengeti's endless plains, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire's baobabs and Lake Manyara. Kilimanjaro rises to the east, and Zanzibar is a short flight away.

Uganda

Uganda is greener and more varied than the classic savannah safari. Its headline experience is tracking mountain gorillas in Bwindi, but the country also offers chimpanzees in Kibale, lions and hippos in Queen Elizabeth, and the Nile at Murchison Falls.

Rwanda

Rwanda is compact and well organised, with mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, chimpanzees and canopy walks in Nyungwe Forest, and savannah wildlife in Akagera. We do not publish fixed Rwanda packages; we plan each trip around your dates and permits.
