Safari prices vary widely. Understanding what you are paying for makes it easier to compare quotes and decide where to spend.
What a package price covers
- Park and reserve entry fees, charged per person per day and set by the authorities.
- Accommodation and meals — the biggest variable between budget, midrange and luxury trips.
- Vehicle, fuel and your driver-guide.
- Any flights between parks.
All of our published prices are per person for the complete package, not per day. Each safari page lists exactly what is and is not included.
Examples from our catalogue
- 2 Days Maasai Mara Budget Safari: Standard USD 430 or Low Budget USD 350 per person.
- 4 Days Maasai Mara & Lake Naivasha Budget Safari: low season USD 590, high season USD 690 per person.
- 5 Days Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru & Lake Naivasha Budget Safari: USD 840 per person.
- 6 Days Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru & Lake Naivasha Budget Safari: low season USD 830, high season USD 1,030 per person.
Midrange and luxury safaris are quoted on request, because lodge rates depend heavily on dates and availability.
What changes the price
- Season: high season (roughly July to October and the December holidays) costs more.
- Private or group joining: sharing a vehicle reduces the cost per person.
- Accommodation level: camps, midrange lodges or luxury camps.
- Road or air: flights save time but add cost.
- Group size: the vehicle cost is shared by more people.
Costs not in the package
Budget for international flights, visas, travel insurance, tips, drinks and optional activities such as a hot-air balloon safari or Maasai village visit.
