Budget safaris

Our budget safaris keep the wildlife and cut the extras. You travel in a 4x4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, stay at simple camps and budget hotels we use regularly, and pay one clear price per person for the whole package.

Where you stay

In Kenya our budget itineraries use a fixed set of properties: Miti Mingi Eco Camp in the Maasai Mara, Buraha Zenoni in Nakuru, Leisure Apex at Lake Naivasha and Nyati Safari Camp in Amboseli. They are budget camps and hotels — comfortable beds, hot showers and set meals, not luxury lodges.

In Tanzania our fixed budget stays are Charity Hotel in Arusha, Seronera Camp in the Serengeti, Simba Campsite at Ngorongoro and Fanaka Campsite for Tarangire and Lake Manyara.

Group joining or private

Many budget departures are group joining: you share the vehicle with other travellers on the same route, which keeps the price down. If you prefer your own vehicle, ask for a private quote.

What is usually included

Transport and game drives, a driver-guide, park entry fees, accommodation and meals as listed. Drinks, tips and optional activities such as a Maasai village visit or balloon safari are extra — every package page lists exactly what is and is not included.
